Can I sell seating charts on Etsy?
Yes — as a printable poster, not as a night-of typesetting service. You sell the file. The couple (or their stationer) puts in the names. Instant download. No foam board in the mail unless you truly ship one.
A seating chart is the listing that most often fails the square-photo test. An 18×24 poster photographed full-bleed becomes a crop of two tables and a chopped header. Buyers cannot tell if the type will read from a foyer.
What you are allowed to sell
A designed poster template or a filled sample marked SAMPLE. Two sizes help: 18×24 in and A2. PDF plus PNG, 300 dpi. Taxonomy: Weddings / Invitations & Paper / Signs. Do not file it as a party flyer.
You may show fictional guests. You may not scrape a real couple’s guest list from Instagram and use those names as a demo. You may not claim the chart is “editable in Canva” unless the buyer gets a working template.
The crop problem is the product problem
Etsy thumbnails are square. A tall poster is not. Put the entire chart on the 2000×2000 canvas with a wide cream margin so every table name stays inside the square. Use a later photo for a close-up of two tables. If the hero is a crop, assume half the names are gone on a phone.
Titles that get found
Start with seating chart or wedding seating chart. Add printable poster and a size. “Find your seat” is a phrase people type and a phrase that fits a tag. Do not open with Elegant Boho Luxury Signage.
Price
$10–$18. Two honest sizes sit at the top of that band. A $6 chart looks like a blank grid. A $32 chart competes with people who also design the suite.
